Field Data Survey

The POS (point of sale) Observational Survey captures all quantitative or qualitative data that can be seen at a point of sale, such as:

  • POS product presence and/or in a specific POS area
  • Prices: Normal, deals, shelf
  • Fronts: number of units or inches (main/additional display)
  • Type and number of display racks and/or furniture at POS
  • Type and amount of POP material
  • Spatial layout on display shelf or rack: planogram
  • Product expiration date
  • Product condition
  • POS communication presence and/or signage

The obtained information is the raw data for our Reporting Service which, after passing through a series of validation and transformation processes, becomes a Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for POS management, indicators are pre-configured to suit the needs of each client.

GDS has its own trained and organized structure to carry out the surveys and comply in a timely manner with the process and ensure, above all, quality of the gathered data. Teams of operators are distributed throughout the length of the analyzed country and are coordinated by regional and/or area supervisors. All tasks are defined by our Operations Management System, which plans and distributes survey activity using the latest computer technologies available.

Our teams use the latest capture devices -with Windows Mobile OS- where they receive their task and perform the survey of each required variable which is then transmitted to our central servers through different communication methods. In this regard, it is important to emphasize the possibility of information immediate delivery through Wi Fi links or Mobile data connections.

GDS counts with a quality area to support its entire operation, reporting directly to the Operations Management working mainly on three areas:

1. Ongoing training

2. Methodology and Design Optimization

3. Internal audits
